Hi,

WinAutomation could be my salvation...  Let's say I have a folder of images ( I have dozens of such folders, but let's say I have one so I don't cry).  I need to run the images through a image proccessing program, and save them to a subfolder  The program I'm using does not have a batching feature.

This sounds pretty straight forward, but to do it by hand will take it many hours. It would be amazingly helpful if WinAutomation could handle this for me...  Where to begin?

thanks,

Brendang

Re: Process a folder of images with a program.

Hello Brendang,

You are not actually saying what sort of processing you want to achieve.

So, I am attaching a job that will help you to automate image resizing in bulk using ImageMagick. ImageMagick is a free application that works through the command prompt.

You can download the program here (just make sure you download the right version according to the Windows installation you have)

Import the job in WinAutomation, and click to run it.

You will first be prompted to select the folder the images you want to resize, are in.

A second and a third input boxes will ask you to input the desired width, and height.

WinAutomation, will then create a folder within the original folder named "Resized WidthXHeight" (where "Width" will be replaced with the given width figure and height with the given height figure)

Once the job has finished running, you can check out the results.

You can always customize this job, or use it as a template in order to create more jobs for different processing.

There's a list of commands that you can use for each process you want to apply to an image alone or to a list of images.

Check it out ;)

It will definitely save you hours processing images one by one to resize them while WinAutomation can do it for you in just a few secs ;)

Enjoy!

Samantha

Re: Process a folder of images with a program.

Hi Sam,

Thanks much for the example.  I'm still struggling a bit with the mechcanics, which aren't much ast all, basically, it's two buttons inside a paint program to apply a 'paint style' to several series of rendered images.

I think seperating, the idea of the action within the program... hit 'go'  and the actions of 'saving as'  are confounding me.  Should the 'opening and saving processes be tagged onto the front and end of the processing (in this case the 'go' button).  Clearly it's impossible to tell without seeing the program itself.   I"ll mess with it some more before I come pleasding for further assistence...lol   But I do appreciate the headstart.

best,

Brendan

Re: Process a folder of images with a program.

Well I don't know which program you're actually talking about, but with WinAutomation, you can use Mouse Clicks and Keystrokes to automate any 3rd party application, you could also use the macro recorder to record all or part of the automation you want to perform..

Don't hesitate to ask for any help.. When you do.. please give more details as for what you want to do, which program you want to do it with and anything else you might think might help.

Btw.. What kind of paint style are you trying to apply to these photos? Just asking cause in the program I mentioned in my previous reply, there's a list of things you can do, and it's not a small list.. so.. you might even find it's easier to do what you want directly..

Best luck.. keep us updated ;)
